People who have been abused usually have tons of bottled-up resentment, not just to the person who abused them, but also to others who allowed them to be abused. For example, if you were abused by your father, you probably also have hidden resentment for your mother because she did not do anything about it. There are even cases of abuse where the victim did not even remember the abuse. You could be depressed and not even remember the abuse.
